The field is cold before sunrise in every month. August still wants a layer. November–March wants a real jacket, closed shoes, and gloves. Three nights in winter. I will not print a fake cancel rate or a °C I did not measure.
Fly Nevşehir (NAV) if the seat exists — 30–40 minutes to the hotels. Fly Kayseri (ASR) if you need the extra flights — 60–75 minutes. Pre-book the transfer. Shared is €11 one-way on our 22 August 2026 list. International arrivals are private only.
Red is the north chimneys and Avanos. Green is Ihlara, the underground city and Selime. They are not the same day. If you have one full day after the balloon, pick the landscape you have not walked. Prices below are from our 22 August 2026 calendar.
Book three nights. Balloon on the first sunrise. One full day for Red or Green. Two nights if the flight is the only must. One night is how a weather cancel ends the trip. This is the 3-day spine I actually book.
Stay in Uçhisar if you want the castle ridge, quieter nights, and balloons on the horizon — not scooters under the window. Göreme is still closer to the museum on foot. Two or three nights. Balloon on the first sunrise. Red Tour stops at the castle.
Visit Avanos for the river and the potter’s wheel. Stay only if that is the town you want after dark — not chimneys outside the window. Most guests sleep Göreme, Ürgüp or Uçhisar and come on the Red Tour or a half day. Balloon pickup is on our list. Two or three nights if you sleep here.
Stay in Ortahisar if you want the other castle village — quieter than Uçhisar’s terrace belt, closer to a working town than Göreme’s alley. Climb the rock. Balloon pickup is on our list. Two or three nights. First sunrise. Red Tour does not replace this stop.
Stay in Ürgüp if you want a real town after dark — stone streets, wine, more tables than Göreme’s alley. You will need a van for the Open Air Museum and the balloon field. Two or three nights. First-sunrise balloon. Turasan and our wine tasting tour if that is why you came.
Visit Çavuşin for the abandoned cave village and the church in the cliff — not for another Göreme alley. A few hours is enough for most guests. Stay only if you want a quiet base on the Göreme–Avanos road. Balloon pickup is on our list. Do not climb into cracked rooms.
Stay in Göreme if you want to walk to dinner, watch balloons without a car, and reach the Open Air Museum on foot. Plan 2–3 nights. Book the balloon on the first sunrise. Pair a Red or Green day tour if you want Ihlara or the north circuit.
Book a Cappadocia balloon in six steps on Skyway: date, valley option, hotel name, pay in full or 50% deposit. Fly the first morning you are here, keep a spare sunrise, and take the weather refund if the briefing says no.
There is no single best month. September–October is when our 2026 Göreme calendar sits at €169–€219. November–March is cheaper (€69–€110 on most days) and needs a spare sunrise. Summer mornings are often calmer — we do not publish a fake cancel rate.

Yes — a licensed Cappadocia balloon is a regulated aviation flight, not a fairground ride. Skyway cancels or refunds when the morning briefing says no. Ages 5–80 on the shared flight; not for pregnancy or serious heart conditions.
