Fly Nevşehir (NAV) if the seat exists — 30–40 minutes to the hotels. Fly Kayseri (ASR) if you need the extra flights — 60–75 minutes. That is the whole decision. Pre-book the transfer. A midnight taxi queue is not a plan.
I run the cars, not an airline timetable. I will not list routes that change every season. Book the airport that has a ticket, then buy the road.
ASR vs NAV
| Nevşehir (NAV) | Kayseri (ASR) | |
|---|---|---|
| Road to the hotel belt | About 30–40 minutes | About 60–75 minutes |
| Flights | Fewer seats — take them when they exist | More connections, including later arrivals |
| Who it fits | Short hop, domestic when the schedule works | The flight you can actually buy |
| Shared arrival | Domestic, listed towns | Domestic, listed towns — not international |
Times are from our transfer notes, not a tourist-blog “45 minutes always”. Traffic and the last lane to a cave house add minutes. Transfer page.
Which airport I would book
| Your situation | Airport |
|---|---|
| Both have a usable seat | NAV — you buy back half an hour |
| Only ASR connects | ASR — do not wait for a fictional NAV |
| International arrival | Whichever you landed — private transfer, not shared |
| Late inbound, balloon at sunrise | Either, if you still sleep before 04:30 |
| Hard outbound the morning after a “maybe we fly” | Wrong plan — move the flight |
Three-night spine: how many days. Balloon first sunrise: how to book.
2026 transfer prices on our calendar
Snapshot 22 August 2026. The option base in admin is zero; the live cell is what you pay. Checkout multiplies by passenger count — shared and private both inherit per-person pricing on this tour.
| Option | Typical cell |
|---|---|
| Shared one-way (ASR or NAV) | €11 per person — every dated we have loaded |
| Shared round-trip | €21 per person |
| Private one-way (named ASR / NAV rows) | €85 per person |
| Combined private ASR/NAV option | €69 Jan–Mar; €85 Apr–Dec |
Read the option name. A “round-trip shared” is the same airport both ends. Split airports are two one-ways. I will not invent a taxi lira at the rank.
Shared vs private
Shared is the van with other guests, listed towns only: Göreme, Uçhisar, Avanos, Ürgüp, Ortahisar, Çavuşin, Mustafapaşa, Nevşehir. Staff take you to a meeting point. Not for international arrivals.
Private is the car for your booking, name sign in the arrivals hall, any hotel in the region. International arrivals use this. A house outside the shared belt uses this. You still type the hotel as it is on the map.
We watch the flight number. Delays: we wait within operational limits — message us when you know. A booking with no flight code is how the driver stands at the wrong door.
What to type on the booking
Flight number as it is on the ticket — the code the board uses, not “the evening Istanbul”. Hotel name as on the map, including Cave / Stone / Hotel. A pin in the notes if the van cannot loop the lane at 23:40. WhatsApp on the phone that still has signal when airport Wi-Fi dies.
Private: driver in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Shared: staff to the meeting point. Do not walk out to the taxi lane “to save time” and then message that you cannot find us.
Winter and the longer road
ASR is the long one. Snow and fog add minutes; they do not invent a third airport. Leave earlier for a morning outbound from Kayseri than you would from Nevşehir. I will not print a fake winter cancel rate for the balloon and blame the airport. Month table: best time.
Most guests still connect through a hub. I will not name 2026 frequencies. If both ASR and NAV show a seat the day you book, NAV is the shorter remaining road. If only ASR shows, you already decided.
Landing around a balloon morning
Pickup for a shared Göreme flight is often 04:30–05:30 in the warm months. You cannot land at ASR at 11:00 and join a van that left at 04:40. Arrive the evening before. A 22:00 ASR drop on night one is normal if morning two is the flight.
Do not book an outbound that sits on the same morning as a weather call. Rebook or refund is the balloon rule — it does not hold a Turkish Airlines slot. Safety · 2026 balloon prices.
In one airport, out the other
Fine when the tickets force it. Book ASR one-way and NAV one-way (or the reverse). Do not buy a shared round-trip and hope. Two hotels in three nights plus two airports is how people spend the trip in a van.
What I would not do
- Land with no transfer and “find a taxi”.
- Book shared on an international arrival.
- Pick NAV because a blog said it is “better” when the only seat is ASR.
- Stack a balloon morning and a hard airport departure.
- Write “near Göreme” instead of the hotel name.
Towns and the last ten minutes
The 30–40 / 60–75 window is the airport-to-belt number. A cave house up a lane in Uçhisar or Ortahisar adds a pin in the notes. Shared will not invent Mustafapaşa if you typed a farm stay outside the list — that is private.
Hotel guides: Göreme · Uçhisar · Ürgüp.
A spine I would book
- Buy the flight that exists. NAV when both work.
- Three nights. Transfer in the evening before the balloon.
- Shared €11 if you are domestic and in the belt. Private if you are not.
- Flight number + mapped hotel. Outbound after the last sunrise you might still need.
A ski bag and four hard cases on shared is how you should have booked private. Put ages and bag count in the notes if the car size matters. The live page beats this article the morning you pay.
The airport is a road, not a destination. Pick the seat, then pick the car. Confirm the cell on the transfer page the day you pay — this table is a 22 August 2026 snapshot.
