Visit Avanos for the river and the potter’s wheel. Stay only if that is the town you want after dark — not chimneys outside the window. Most guests sleep Göreme, Ürgüp or Uçhisar and come on the Red Tour or a half day. Balloon pickup is on our list. Two or three nights if you sleep here.
Stay in Ortahisar if you want the other castle village — quieter than Uçhisar’s terrace belt, closer to a working town than Göreme’s alley. Climb the rock. Balloon pickup is on our list. Two or three nights. First sunrise. Red Tour does not replace this stop.
Stay in Ürgüp if you want a real town after dark — stone streets, wine, more tables than Göreme’s alley. You will need a van for the Open Air Museum and the balloon field. Two or three nights. First-sunrise balloon. Turasan and our wine tasting tour if that is why you came.
Visit Çavuşin for the abandoned cave village and the church in the cliff — not for another Göreme alley. A few hours is enough for most guests. Stay only if you want a quiet base on the Göreme–Avanos road. Balloon pickup is on our list. Do not climb into cracked rooms.
Stay in Uçhisar if you want the castle ridge, quieter nights, and balloons on the horizon — not scooters under the window. Göreme is still closer to the museum on foot. Two or three nights. Balloon on the first sunrise. Red Tour stops at the castle.
Stay in Göreme if you want to walk to dinner, watch balloons without a car, and reach the Open Air Museum on foot. Plan 2–3 nights. Book the balloon on the first sunrise. Pair a Red or Green day tour if you want Ihlara or the north circuit.
